Thankful
In 2013 I had the crazy idea I could be a photographer !! I started a Facebook business page asked my cousin to model for me. Thinking my business would start overnight, but it didn’t. It was a long road. It was a journey that built Sarah Hilts Photography over the years. When I first started the photography business, I included all the sessions. Yep, everything I thought that is what I was supposed to do being a photographer. I hated it. Yes, I said it. I didn’t particularly appreciate shooting all the different session types. I wasn’t feeling inspired in my work. The idea of giving up came to mind. I had invasion this BIG DREAM, and it wasn’t going the way I saw it, so why keep pushing for something that doesn’t make you happy. Little did I know the Lord was slowly building me up to this point—helping me find my way in this business.
Two years into my photography experience, I found my niche. Seniors and teen photography made my heart feel on fire. So I started following, joining groups, and reading any photographer that worked with seniors or teens—trying to learn all I could about senior portraits. Then, in 2015 I ran my 1st Facebook rep team application. I did not know anything about the senior rep’s team. So I jumped headfirst, learning as I went along. My first team was three seniors; it was the start of Sarah Hilts Photography. I’m genuinely thankful for each one of my reps and their parents for helping me out. Over the last seven years, Sarah Hilts Photography has had 53 senior reps! I cannot even describe how truly thankful I am.
As my team grew, so did my client base. I have been a part of so many special senior sessions, proms, and graduations. Finally, last year in November, I put my notice in at my real-world job. I wanted to work on my business more, but I also didn’t want to sit at home. I was scared to jump with no backup plan. So many pray again, and the Lord answers with a job at Merle Norman / All That Glitters. This year has been my best year yet!! Being able to work with seniors from other states this summer at the Outer Banks was incredible. Now I have the flexibility to work during the week, so my weekends can be with family.
I just wanted you to know how THANKFUL I am for everyone who has been a part of this journey.
